  • So Long, Farewell

Tuesday was also Nanna and Poppy’s last day in SF. They left Wednesday morning for visits to CT, FL, PA and OH. We’ll miss them a lot, but before they left, Evan got to open up his first Christmas presents of the year. (and Sophie’s too)

  • Academy of Sciences

Tuesday was another day off for the daddies, so Nana and Poppy joined us in a great trip to the amazing new Academy of Sciences museum. We were amazed at the number of things that  were there for a child Evan’s age. He loved every moment and we are looking forward to returning soon.

  • Christmas Shopping

Daddies had a couple of days off – so we  tried to go Christmas shopping. All we really got done was spending some time at the play space at the mall! At least the kids had fun!

After shopping we did stop for lunch. David, Evan, and Sophie all got their first trip ever to Chuck E. Cheese. I guess it was mostly for my sake – I have been wondering for years what it is like – but never had an excuse to go!

  • Margo

Monday night Margo came to cook dinner for us!  What? Yes! Margo slaved all day Sunday prepping our dinner and came over after work to finish the meal and enjoy it with the whole family! Wow!

  • Nutcracker weekend

Last weekend we took Evan and Sophie to see the Nutcracker performance by the SF Ballet School. Cousin Kendra was in it again this year, which made it all the more exciting. The entire family and many friends attended which made an especially great day. Evan loved it, and sat watching every bit of it, clapping and singing “more” every time a scene ended! Sophie, despite being as cute as a button all dressed up, wasn’t impressed and the daddy’s took turns sitting in the lobby with her.

So I’ll be all dolled up—Hello Dolly

After the ballet, all 40 or so of us, including about 15 children under the age of 8 went to “dinner”. Despite being more then chaotic – it was a great way to “end” a great day.

  • Bath Time

Monday night. Evan and Sophie just started bathing together. They both love it. Evan loves having the company, and Sophie is turning out to be a great little “splasher”!

  • Haul out the Holly—Mame

We usually don’t get our tree up quite so early in December, but since we never know when we will have time, and we know that we will be in Fairplay at least one of the next 2 weekends, we decided this weekend that now was as good a time as any to get our tree. So off we went to Delancy Street Xmas Trees (right on Market Street this year) to pick out the perfect tree for us.

It may not be the standard old fashion way of getting a Christmas tree, but they do make it very easy these days. A quick trim of the branches, and some help tying it on the car – and we were off! The white bag means no needles all over the house when we bring it inside!

And in case you’re wondering – it’s Monday night now – and the tree is still being decorated!

  • Saturday Morning

It was a fairly cold Saturday morning in San Francisco, but the sun was out, and everyone was showered, dressed and getting antsy  by 8 AM- so we headed out to the farmers market at the Ferry Plaza. Evan and Sophie seemed to enjoy the outing, and Evan got to try a few fresh fruit (which he loved) and freshly made pastries (which he didn’t really care about).

  • The Holiday

The weekend after Thanksgiving was another trip up to Fair Play. This time with good friends Dennis, Doug and Lonan. After a couple of days – it was very  obvious that Evan really  enjoyed having company his size up to visit!

  • Thanksgiving

It has become a tradition now for the family to go to the car show on Thanksgiving morning. We did it last year with Evan, and this year we took them both, were out of the house by 9 and there when it opened at 10 AM. It works great because the show is quite empty that morning, and Evan can stand in each car and pretend to drive. We were happy to see that his favorite was the Prius! A little more environmentally friendly then his daddies favorite – the Mercedes S550 AMG.

“Sittin pretty in the caddy” (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels)

The afternoon was spent at the Cleary’s with cousins and grandparents. Its always special to spend time with family, and we feel VERY fortunate that we get to have holidays like this one.
