  • VP debate

Today was the one and only VP debate for the election that is now only 30 days away! The day started pretty normally with a great breakfast. Evan ate two whole eggs and a waffle for breakfast.

now when i sit down to breakfast..

In the evening, Nanna and Poppy stayed for dinner and we all watched the debate.

you need someone older and wiser, telling you what to do…

Overall our general consensus was that this was a debate that was more enjoyable to watch then the Obama/McCain debate last week. We are quite sure that Evan and Sophie are well on their way to becoming responsible San Francisco liberals!

Despite what they might hear from Nanna and Poppy

    ..and didn’t carry a state…
  • And what’s more, baby, I can cook!

JP and Evan prepare dinner for Evan. Tonight it’s marinated flank steak grilled on the stove, rice, which went over only so, so… and ended up including 1/2 a banana, peach puffs, and pineapple.

    I’m cooking with gas….

  • Out of my dreams

On Tuesday morning, Sophie woke up a little early. We just brought her into our bed and she slept for another 4 hours. One little baby in a big queen size bed. Still not enough room!

  • Many a new day

Today is the first day where I spent most of the day at work. Nana and Papi are here to take care of Sophie and Evan during the day, so l got to concentrate on stuff that really needed to get done. Really, it was mostly phone calls to my colleagues in Boulder, CO.  When David came home from work, we all sat down in the play room and, well, played!

    “Children will listen”

Evan loves to play, and getting to play with both his daddies is even better.

Well, one of the daddies has to take the pictures…

  • Sunday in the Park….

Evan got his scooter put together finally! We had been waiting because he wasn’t really good at lifting one foot over the seat of the toys at the playground. But as you can see below – he now has the hang of it and is loving figuring out how to make it move!

“ding, ding, ding went the bell!”

In the afternoon, we had a play date with our good friend Lonan and one of his Dads, Doug.

…there is an element of fun…
  • I think you’re gonna like it here….

Papi and Nana arrive in San Francisco today! We haven’t seen them since July, and though only two months ago – both Evan and Sophie have changed a lot.

“I get a kick out of you!”

Some pictures of Evan and Sophie interacting early in the morning.

“I can do anything better then you!”

Sophie was a having a little tummy time and Evan started kissing her!

    We’ll always be bosom buddies…

The day started with a trip to the playground. Evan climbed up the structure and went down the slide 3 times by himself. (with close supervision of course)

It was a beautiful day – which Sophie enjoyed to its fullest!

…she ought to be in bed….

There was some new toys in the play space, among them a new “car”, a truck with large legos, and this horse!

“I got my horse right here, his name is Paul Revere…”
  • Obama vs McCain

Today was the first presidential debate. Fox News is sure that Mccain won. Then there is the rest of the media….. I, of course, still somehow think that Hillary won.

Another pretty normal day in the house. Evan has been using a fork for a few weeks now, but getting better every day. Today I caught some it on camera

“I am getting pretty good at this!”

Eggs are a new favorite. After several months of trying once a week, suddenly he can finish almost 2 scrambled eggs, plus toast or a cereal bar, AND a banana most every morning.

We still allow the occasional assist by a finger or two….

Even after breakfast, Evan still likes to carry around his cup with some snack in it. It keeps him happy, and gives his daddies time to drink coffee, feed Sophie, drink coffee, take showers, get dressed, drink coffee (did I say that already?), get Evan dressed, and get off to work!

Now. I think it was two days ago that Evan discovered this next toy on the shelf in the back room. Its been around for almost a year, and he never really noticed it, but all of a sudden it is his favorite and he can’t get enough of this little dog that “barks” “jingle bells”!!

“Dad, watch what happens if I squeeze his ear!”

Funny thing that it seems to be just in time to teach him a little something about Christmas!

“Dog garn it if it doesn’t work EVERY time!”

And now it is accompanied by the cutest little dance!

“jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way…”
  • Wednesday

In what has become the most exciting thing for us this week, the news today is that Sophie slept “through” the night again! (from 11 to 6) This is the first time that she has done that two times in the same week. Dads are VERY excited that might actually make a trend.

Sophie showing off her “hand” skills.

I guess as it is with all kids – both of them tend to be very happy in the morning.

Evan poses for a picture on Wednesday AM

Sophie finally got her silver rattle. We’ll see if it ends up as dented as Evans did. Funny thing about silver rattles is that they actually work! They’re shiny, noisy, easy to hold on to, and apparently taste pretty darn good!

Thanks Dads – I love you!

  • Tuesday

Back to work today! LolaBeth came over to help with the kids. Sophie did NOT sleep through the night last night.

Our normal routine at night. Feed Evan – i would post a picture here, but haven’t figured out how to hold the camera, feed Evan and take a picture without creating an even bigger mess then dinner usually is. Stay tuned.

Baths start at 6:30 or so. Evan loves bathtime, but as soon as he sees the camera, he is obsessed with getting a hold of it – so its hard to get one of him actually doing anything but reaching for it or screaming because he can’t have it. So Evan first…

“this blog thing is getting old really fast dad..”

After Evan is done, Sophie goes in immediately while Evan gets PJs on.

Evan in PJs watches Sophie take a bath

After baths and JP’s, it one more drink and a story, and Evan goes to bed! Then…well that’s up to Sophie, tonight she’ll probably eat one mor time at 9 or 10, and then we’ll see what happens!

  • End of weekend

Monday morning it was back to reality. Time to pack up the car and head back to San Francisco.

Trash from 3 days in Fair Play

Fortunately, we always try to get back to SF in time for some more fun and games before the weekend ends!

Evan in the “fort” at Eureka Valley rec center

Which gives us and the kids a little time to unwind before we start another week!

blurry – but worth the smile on his face as Evan goes down the “roller coaster”
