  • “You’ll be the grandest lady in the Easter parade” (As Thousands Cheer)

Easter weekend was a big one! We left the city on Friday afternoon and headed to Fair Play. We wanted to be back in the city for Easter dinner with the Cleary clan, but also knew that we were due for a quiet weekend in Fair Play, so decided it was worth the trip! We had no idea what a great weekend it would be. Fair Play was absolutely beautiful…green… blooming..and full of Easter spirit. Daddies got to go out to a great dinner at “taste” in Plymouth while Nanna and Pappi babysat, and Saturday morning turned into a whole lot more then we expected! We went to the playground expecting to burn some energy before lunch at bocconato, and ended up finding ourselves in the middle of a full on “country” Easter celebration. Sunday morning we drove back to SF for dinner and had a great time with amazing food, great wine, and wonderful family! So here goes the photos….(280 photos taken over the last 3 days – so here are the best)

  • “The best of times is now” (La Cage Au Folles)

We finally got back to Fair Play this weekend. We left after work on Friday and got up there pretty late, but it was definitely worth the trip. We hadn’t been since the middle of January, but the sun was out, the  flowers were starting to bloom, the birds were singing, and we remembered why we love it up there so much.  We visited with the Van de Vijvers, ate lunch at Bocconato, went wine tasting, stacked some wood that had been cut by the tree trimmer, and did a little “spring cleaning” in the house.

  • “And you’re here with me” (Xanadu)

Nana and Poppy have been here for a whole month now! Somehow I hadn’t gotten a picture of them with both kids until last night. Daddy’s decided to move their bedroom back upstairs and move the office downstairs. Even though we still have to go to their room at night once in a while – ultimately we thought that this was a better arrangement, and that it was ok to be more then 10 feet away from them at night!  Nanny and Poppy stayed with us when we got home from work so we had time to arrange new furniture that had arrived, and move some clothes and toiletries so we could feel “at home” in our new bedroom. After the kids went to bed, we ordered Indian food and enjoyed it with a glass of wine. dsc_1472

  • “La la la, La la la” (Sister Act)

Sophie has been under the weather the last couple of days. It started with vomiting on Sunday night. She seemed to be ok on Monday morning, but she got worse through the day and wasn’t eating much, and was sleeping alot. Her temperature went up to about 101, but came down easily with Tylenol. Monday night was a little worse. She threw up again at about 11 PM, and was up most of the evening crying and unhappy. Daddy’s stayed home with her on Tuesday and each did work while the other sat with Sophie. Through the day she improved, playing a little, eating a little more, and no fever. Hopefully Monday night was the worst of it and we are now on the mend.

A very favorite thing of Evan and Sophie right now is “YouTube”. Evan loves to watch Elmo videos on the computer in the kitchen. (Or as he calls  him  –  Melmo) His two favorites are “Elmo’s Song” and “Nora Jones/Elmo – Don’t Know ‘Y’”.

  • “Its got to happen, happen some time” (Cabaret)

Yesterday was a pretty full day. Daddy David  and Sophie went to look at condo’s with Nanna and Poppy in the AM. While they were out, Daddy JP was brave enough to take Evan to get a haircut. I say brave because we pretty much know that getting his hair cut is not one of his favorite things. He was fine with it up to about 13 months, and then all of a sudden – he started hating it! Daddy JP says he sat still, but cried the whole time. We do take him to the coolest kids  place in town – they have cars to sit in during haircut, videos, and more toys then we have at home – but none of that seems to matter. When all was said and done – Evan ended up with a  cute new look.

dsc_1431After nap time it was time for our monthly “gay dad’s meet -up” at the Bay Area Discovery Museum. Its a great place, and we enjoyed it. Unfortunately the rain kept everyone indoors so the “dad’s socializing” part of the day suffered because we were all in different buildings chasing different kids doing different things. Highlights for Evan were definitely the “train room” and the “noise room”.  Sophie climbed her first set of stairs in the train room – about 7 or 8 wooden steps leading up to the platform where the boat is.

Dinner time rolled around and we went home to eat. After Sophie and Evan had eaten, Dad’s were busy cleaning and eating and Evan went about entertaining himself. Evan gathered up the muffin tin from the cabinet, and Sophie’s left over baby food, and we found him at the table spooning the food into the muffin tin.

  • “Great Big Stuff” (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels)

Happy St. Patricks Day 2009! We forgot to dress the kids (and ourselves) in green today. We did celebrate with a little corned beef dinner with Nanna and Poppy in the evening .

The picture below is just a snapshot of a normal delivery to our house from Diapers.com. It is an amazing convenience that we use a lot. They deliver our diapers, formula,  baby food, wipes, etc. We are looking forward to the day in the not too distant future when we can stop the formula and baby food deliveries, though the diapers and wipes should continue for quite some time. It does make me think about what “Octomom’s” delivery would look like!

  • “I am changing” (Dreamgirls)

A few updates from this past week – and after this I am going to rededicate myself to posting more often and to try to keep t blog in the way I originally intended to. It’s my intention to create a living scrap book for the kids, family members, and friends – to try to document the good, the bad, and the ugly. It has sort of emerged as a once a week posting of cute pictures from the prior week, which is fine – but not what I set out to do.

Sophie is continuing to change very quickly. She is crawling pretty well now, though not fast. She started really moving on all fours on Thursday, and 4 days later is pretty good at it. She also is pulling herself up to standing and cruising around a little.

This morning – I felt her first tooth!  Finally! After over 10 months – her first tooth is here! I would include a picture here – but we can barely see it right now – so I’ll post picture when I can get a good one. In the meantime, here is a picture of Sophie and Daddy as she concentrates on walking while holding on to Daddy’s hand.

Evan also had a first this week. His first popsicle!  He loved it – ate both a strawberry one and a lime one on his first try. Here is a picture of him enjoying the stawberry!

  • “Whatever Lola wants” (Damn Yankees)

Sunday night was Lola’s birthday celebration. A great way to cap off a weekend, we all sat down to a birthday dinner. We are a pretty big group now, the Cleary 5, the Bowik 4, and all 4 grandparents –  means that sitting down for dinner is quite the event! Thank goodness there are plenty of grandparents to help, and plenty of cousins to entertain each other. For the first time, we used a “kids” table. Evan sat with the Cleary kids – and clearly enjoyed his independence! He ate a TON – non stop from before dinner to after dessert! For now – Sophie sat in her high chair and and enjoyed the “grown up” table – but I am sure the time will come very quickly when she can also sit at the “Kids Table”.
