  • Cause little people grow—Les Miserables

Evan has a few new rules this week.

    1. He does NOT like to sit in high chair.
    2. He does NOT like to be fed by anyone but himself
    3. He does NOT like to wear a bib.
    4. Yogurt is now his favorite food.

  • We have no troubles here. Here life is beautiful—Cabaret

Saturday was a beautiful day in San Francisco. The end of January ended up being much like the rest of the month—sunny and warm. I know it is really bad that we have had no rain, but the sun and warmth make it a whole lot easier with the kids! We spent a lot of time at the playground, and in the evening we went to dinner in the Marina. It ended up being a great day, and although both kids still seem to have a little bit of a cold, they both seemed happy the whole day.

  • In daylight, in sunsets, in midnights, in cups of coffee—Rent

I was looking through old pictures this morning because Evan and Sophie woke up at 4:00 AM. They and Joseph fell asleep again—but I didn’t! I thought I would post a couple of pictures from the days that Evan and Sophie were born. Time goes by so quickly now, yet it seems like these days were years ago.

  • Cause if you feed me…I can grow up big and strong—Little Shop of Horrors

So Evan is growing up and wanting to do so many things on his own. Here’s our first video for the site…

  • Pick a little, Talk a little—Music Man

Sunday night we went to dinner at our friend’s house, Hank, Scott and Charlotte. Evan got to play with Charlotte’s toys including a really cool airplane that he could sit on, hit a button, and make the propeller turn! Evan also got to try his hand at playing a real guitar courtesy of Hank. He loved!! it

  • From the day we arrive on the planet—Lion King

Angela came to visit for the weekend. Evan very easily identifies her as “Mom” through the pictures we show him. They—well mostly Evan—love to play with her and she is always happy to oblige. As usual, we went to playground, and out to dinner for pasta—Evan was a little restless at dinner, but loved his meatballs!

  • These are a few of my favorite things—Sound of Music

Saturday morning we went to “Habitot” in Berkeley where we met all the other families in our gay dad’s meet-up group. We haven’t seen many of them for a long time so it was great to see how all the kids had grown! Evan and Sophie had a great time. Evan loved the “diner” part where he was able to play with the food, cash register, and especially the little round “diner style” seats. Sophie enjoyed playing with the trains for a while, but as the place got more crowded, she found that the area saved for babies and “crawlers” was much safer.

  • It Might as Well Be Spring—State Fair

MLK day meant a long weekend in Fair Play. David Parker joined us for the weekend, and we had a wonderful time enjoying the weather, good food, wine, and fun outdoors and in with the kids.  The weather was stunning, and flowers have started to bloom! Namely roses and camellias…

We had two amazing lunches at Bocconato. Highlights included an incredible lamb carpaccio, and spezzetino d’maiale.

Sophie still doesn’t have any teeth, so her choice of food at lunch is limited to chewing on the occasional piece of bread, and hanging out with Dad in the sun.

Not having teeth doesn’t prevent Sophie from having Gelato.  She had a mouth WIDE open to get in as big a spoonfull as possible, while keeping an eye on her brother to make sure he didn’t eat it all!

The great weather also enabled David, Joseph, and David P to all get out in the yard and get thier hands just a little dirty!  What use to be a rose garden covered in Wisteria – is no more.  It may have been beautiful a few weeks a year,  but in general it was just an eye sore between the house and the view.  We also took a few minutes out to chop down three small trees with an axe that were also sort of blocking the view.

Evan loved being outside in the yard, and was anxious to help by picking up some of the smaller sticks that had fallen.

  • 26 Days and Counting…

Thursday night Brad and Kathy came for dinner. Their little (unnamed) girl is due in just 26 days! Hard to believe this might be our last dinner together before their little bundle of joy arrives! Needless to say, we can’t wait to meet her! We made pizzas, or as Brad likes to call them “Pizzaritos” (you’ll have to ask him, but they don’t look like the pictures below when he is done with them)
